n my adult life, I have moved over 20 times. Thirteen of those times I have employed the services of a professional moving company. The experience my wife and I had with The Movers Group was by far the worst experience I have ever had. The move was arranged for May 31, 2011. We informed your agent that the move had to be completed by 4:00 p.m. on the move day. “No problem” we were told. The moving crew showed up at 10:45 a.m.; the scheduled window was 8:00 – 10:00. Throughout the day I kept querying the moving crew and the sales rep about completing it on time. “No problem” I was told. They did not complete the task until June 1, 2011. On the contract it was directed that the crew should take the large sofa up the stairs and over to the large elevator in the building. The crew, after getting the sofa into the stairwell, decided they didn’t want to bring it up the stairs, but instead went down five flights and attempted to exit through a door the sofa was not going to fit. For 45 minutes they attempted to push, bend and force the sofa out the door. In the end, they brought it back up the stairs, through the building to the large elevator and descended without further incident. In this debacle, they managed to rub a hole completely through my leather sofa, break the sofa frame and totally ruin a good leather sofa. Because of the crew’s inability to meet the contracted “no problem” time of 4 p.m. on May 31st, my wife and I had to spend the night in a hotel. I took yet a second day off work and met the crew at the delivery location on June 1, 2011. I understand that during a move occasionally things will get scratched or broken even though the crew exercises reasonable care. However, the willful negligence exhibited by this crew is beyond the scope of any contract insurance provided. During the prep for moving, the movers would tape padding on the furniture, but they also taped directly on the wood surface of the item. I did not notice this until after the items were delivered and the padding was being removed. Boxes marked “Top Load Only” were found stacked at the bottom of three or four other boxes". During the delivery, the following items were noted as broken/damaged/scratched or destroyed: • One large leather sofa—leather rubbed all the way through/frame cracked/multiple abrasions • Door to wardrobe—broken glass even though it was ‘crated’ by the crew • Brand new (2 months old) acrylic buffet—gouged • King bed frame chipped/scratched • Dresser drawer—smashed • New bookshelf---gouged • Linen shelf/closet—bottom smashed • Kitchen table top---gouged • Book Shelf damaged with tape The crew showed no concern for any of the damages that occurred/. These guys were amateurs?. At the end of the delivery, the lead brought in the glass door to the wardrobe, set it down, looked at me and said, “That’s broken too”;. He then went to fill out the rest of the paperwork:. No apologies ever from this guy,. As further proof of the behavior of this crew, the manager where we now live had security ask them 8 times not to place items on the shrubbery, not to place item on other residents’ cars and not to block the garage with items removed from the truck:. She finally sent security to tell me to tell them to stop,. One final proof...go to Better Business Bureau Website and see their F rating because of 42 complaints filed in the last 36 months...23 in the last 12 months. Unfortunately I relied solely on my Realtor's recommendation. http://www.bbb.org/south-east-florida/business-reviews/moving-and-storage-companies/the-movers-group-in-hollywood-fl-92015917 1292f26
